About Amanda Thompson

Designer Amanda Thompson's background isn't silk and cutting shears, it's dance. She performed around the world with the Michael Clark company before making the leap into women's couture in 2008. Choreography now finds its form in how Amanda works with textiles. She lets the natural drape and fall of the sumptuous materials she sources in Como, Italy instinctively lead her designs: "I let the fabric shape my thinking." The result? Elegance. Adventure. Authenticity.

The Atelier

On All Saints Road in London’s leafy W11 (Notting Hill), Amanda's bright, street-level atelier is a welcoming place where clients come to browse and conversations begin. Styled on a typical Parisian design studio, collections occupy the outer room, with workshop and fitting-room discreetly behind. Designer jewellery, bags and accessories from Amanda's collaborations are also on show to put the finishing touches to an outfit. Other lovely shops live nearby too, giving this artisanal area a distinctly creative vibe.

The Couture Experience

This is modern couture. With Amanda, the couture experience is all about listening to and collaborating with her clients – to create a bespoke look for no one else but them. Start with the collection that inspires you and then… a longer sleeve? different buttons? a wider leg? The collections in the atelier are just the starting point. Amanda's deep knowledge of fabrics, fit and cutting will fashion something that turns heads and is uniquely you.

“The showroom comes to life when customers
are browsing, asking questions. It’s often the
start of a great conversation.”
