Rental FAQs
-
How do I find a piece that will fit me?
When you come into the store, we'll work with you to find pieces that fit you perfectly, including discussing and advising on suitable styles.
What sizes are available to rent?
Currently we have samples available to rent that cater to sizes 8, 10 & 12 as that is what we have from previous collections. But please show your interest in particular sizes as we wish to make more couture pieces specifically for our rentals to include every-body!
Can Amanda Thomson Couture alter pieces to rent?
We will happily hem and tack garments to achieve the perfect fit, but only if this does not permanently alter the garment.
-
How long can I rent an item for?
Garments can be rented for a 4 day or 8 day period. Longer rentals can be organised, contact us directly to discuss a custom rental period.
Is there a limit to the number of items I can rent?
If you're renting with us for the first time, we have a limit of two rental pieces. Once these have been safely returned, you are more than welcome to rent more of our selection next time!
Do you have a waitlist for items?
If the piece you're interested in is not available for the date you have in mind, we can either help you find an equally delightful alternative, or we can place you on standby, in the event of a cancellation.
How does a deposit work?
Deposits will be held by a third party and released when the garment has been received at Amanda Thompson couture and inspected. Deposits vary garment to garment and reflect a percentage of the make cost of a garment to cover ATC in the event of damage or loss of the garment. The deposit will be organised when you pick the garment up in store.
-
How do I receive/return my rental?
If you can’t make it into store to try, loan and return your garment, we can organize a courier service for orders within London, and express post garments throughout the UK. Return slips will be included for your convenience and transport charges added to your invoice.
Do I need to get my rental garment cleaned before returning it?
Cleaning fees are included in your rental price, meaning you don’t need to clean the garments yourself. Only Amanda Thompson couture has the right to clean garments. Any attempt to clean garments may result in damage as our fabrics are very delicate and specialized. So to avoid losing your deposit, please don’t attempt to clean the garments yourselves.
Can I buy my rental garment?
Unfortunately no, our archive collection features the pieces we have made over the years that we cannot part with, but deserve to be worn and loved.
What happens if my garment is returned with significant damage?
In the event of a garment being damaged, lost or not returned to us in its original state (excluding minor wear and tear) you will lose your deposit, either partially or fully in order to replace or repair the garment.
-
What if I damage or lose my rental?
You are expected to treat rented items as if they are your own. If anything happens, please let us know immediately by emailing: info@amandathompsoncouture.co.uk
Amanda Thompson Couture will cover any minor damages that can be fixed up to the cost of £65, such a minor stains, general wear and tear (loss of sequins or beads) minor rips or jammed zippers. More significant damage, the loss of a product or failure to return the garment will result in the loss of your deposit.
What if I return my rental late?
It’s important that you return your rental within the rental period, as many items have back-to-back reservations. If, for any reason, it looks like you can’t make your scheduled return date, please contact us as soon as possible by emailing: info@amandathompsoncouture.co.uk
Late returns will result in a daily late fee of £35 per day, increasing to £50 per day after one week. Garments will be considered not returned if we have not received it within 4 weeks of the end of your rental period, and therefore result in the loss of your deposit. If your due date falls on a bank holiday and we are not in store, that won’t be included in the rental period, you can return it the following day.
“I love Rental from Amanda Thompson Couture. It gives me the opportunity to dip my toe in the water, feel fabulous for that special occasion, without having to invest completely in the piece - and the process is so refreshingly simple too.”
